WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAVE HAD YOUR INSPECTION PLATES OFF?

Fellow "stunt" pilots consider the following: Let me set the scene for you. It's Halloween, October 31, 1974, the day before the Remuda contest in sunny Florida. The box has been marked and a few of us are trying a sequence or two. Bill Thomas and Alan Bush have flown and now I go; strap it on; start it up and climb for the first sequence. The Known goes pretty well, so back up for the free style.

Oshkosh, Wisconsin —Monday, July 22, 2019

Shortly before 1:30 pm, the afternoon breeze streaming across Whitman Field had freshened to gusts.  From the gathered crowd of nearly two hundred, a single white Panama sun hat popped up and out - sailing off into a perfect blue sky.  Southeast Aero’s Director of Sales Doug Vayda was pacing excitedly, occasionally stopping to greet and shake hands with the other members of the Extra Aircraft family.

Request for input: Advanced Team Selection Changes

The Board of Directors are requesting membership input regarding a vote at the spring meeting to change the manner in which the IAC selects the Advanced United States Aerobatic Team. Please send all comments via email to IAC Vice President Doug Bartlett (email below).

 

A change is being made to provide an option to the IAC to place a well qualified pilot on the Advanced Team who may not have qualified at the National Championships for any reason.  This change is being made for the Advanced Team only and is not being considered for the Unlimited Team at this time.

 

Annual Volunteer Awards Announced at AirVenture

Each year, the membership of the IAC nominates outstanding volunteers to be recognized for their contribution to the sport of aerobatics. The award winners are selected by a secret ballot of the IAC Board of Directors. IAC President Robert Armstrong presented the recipients with their awards at the IAC Gathering of Members on Friday evening, July 27th at the EAA Nature Center during AirVenture in Oshkosh.

 

2017 Judges Revalidation & Currency Exam Is Online

The 2017 IAC Judges Revalidation and Currency Exam is now available on the Programs->Judges->Exams web page.  Passing the R&C Exam is required for Judge currency for 2017.  The passing score is 80%.  The exam is open book and is best done with a copy of the IAC Official Contest Rules and the IAC web site at hand.  An IAC chapter might make exam prep the topic of a chapter meeting.
