Read moreFlying began just a few minutes ago (at about 12:00 noon here in Slovakia) of Programme 4 -- the 2nd Free Unknown. Six pilots were flown last night after the 1st Free Unknown was completed. After a 50% cut of the pilots, based on the standings from the combined programmes, a total of 32 pilots will fly the last programme of this year's WAAC. Low clouds have again plagued the contest site but weather is now above minimums and the flights should move quickly.

France took the first two places in the Free (Louis Vanel and Thomas Libaud both flying an Extra 330SC) with a South African pilot (Patrick Davidson) winning the Bronze in a Sukhoi SU-26M.
