Fair Play System (FPS) Scoring at Nationals

The statistical scoring program called the Fair Play System (FPS) is being used a the US National Aerobatic Championships this year in accordance with IAC policy.  A statistical system has been used in World Aerobatic Championships since 1978 and FPS is the latest development of those systems. FPS is implemented through the scoring software we use at Nationals called ACRO -- different than the JasPer program currently in use at regional contests throughout the USA.  ACRO's author is Nick Buckenham of Great Britain, who attended US Nationals in 2012 and is frequently a Chief Judge at competitions in Europe.

Nick has written a document on FPS which is posted below for download. We encourage judges and pilots to read this document to understand how the scores are being processed here at Nationals.
