More than a week since the Doug Yost and Best Box contests. The CanAm Challenge in Cut Bank, Montana might have flown over this most recent weekend. We're on the lookout for results. Coming up in the next three weeks, four more: the Hoosier Hoedown in Kokomo, Indiana on the weekend of August 9; the Kathy Jaffe Challenge in Lumberton, NJ; the Upper Canada Open at Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada; and the Beaver State Regional in Pendleton, OR on the weekend of August 15.

We're a little past the All-Star break, halfway through competition season, and the IAC Regional Series is starting to shape up. Every region except the NorthWest has contenders who have flown at least two contests. The SouthWest has pilots already qualified in Sportsman through Unlimited Power. The SouthEast has a valid contest in Advanced. There are many contests remaining to be flown, the warmest months have arrived. Expect to see more pilots reaching the three contest mark. (The NorthWest mark is two contests.)

At its spring 2014 board meeting, the IAC Board approved minor changes to P&P 504, affecting pilots flying for Advanced and Unlimited Power and Glider team selection. This event, originally scheduled for August 23-24, has been canceled. The organizers look forward to hosting the event in 2015.

The Green Mountain Aerobatic Contest in Vermont last weekend was absolutely the place to be for Northeast aerobatic competitors. Forty-three competitors made it to Hartness-Springfield airport (KVSF): two Primary, nineteen Sportsman, fourteen Intermediate, five Advanced, and three Unlimited.

The new, later-in-the-season deadline for proposing Known Programs and rules changes is September 1, only six weeks away.

Known Programs for Primary, Sportsman and Intermediate categories are solicited for both powered aircraft and gliders, as applicable.1  Please submit at least a Form B.  Include a list of figure catalog numbers and K-factors if possible.2

IAC Chapter 88 and Contest Director Brian Roodvoets hosted the Michigan Aerobatic Open in Jackson, Michigan on the weekend before the Fourth of July. They flew sixteen competitors in four categories, Primary through Advanced Power.

Find Jackson, Michigan at the bottom of the Michigan "Mitt," the lower peninsula, north of the border with Ohio. It's thirty or forty miles West of much maligned Detroit, the same distance East of world famous Kellogg's Battle Creek. Snap, Crackle, and Pop were unable to attend. The Great Lake Erie is East. The Great Lake Michigan is West.
