Together with her father, Dick Swanson, Sara Arnold regularly participates in the International Aerobatic Club, the world’s largest aerobatic club. Dick has been a competitor for many years, starting in a Citabria in 1983. The pair fly an American Champion Super Decathlon and are the only known father-daughter duo currently competing in regional and national IAC contests.

Notes from the 2019 IAC Fall Board Meeting

The IAC Board of Directors met in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on November 6th and 7th for the annual Fall Board Meeting. The board had 55 agenda items to review, discuss, and make some decisions on. Hello, IAC members, it is time to nominate our 2020 slate of officers and directors. Nominating petitions are due by April 10, so don't delay. Voting will be done electronically on the IAC website, beginning June 24, voting ends on July 21, results will be announced. New officers and directors will be installed at the close of the IAC Annual Membership Meeting at AirVenture in Oshkosh on July 24, 2020.

In mid-December, U.S. Advanced Aerobatic Team Captain, Jeff Petrocelli contacted Mike Heuer to let him know of the team pilots’ nomination for him to serve as the team’s manager. Although he had the team manager position on his “bucket list” of things to do in aerobatics, he was pleased and surprised to get the call.

Nationals to be held in Salina, Kansas, 20-25 September 2020 and Duncan Koerbel approved as contest director

At the IAC's Fall Board Meeting, November 6-7, 2019, the location and dates of the 2020 U.S. National Aerobatic Championships and contest director were approved by the IAC Board of Directors. The IAC Rule Book "Refactoring" team has just released the new IAC rule book!  Please help the rule book team out by carefully reviewing the text for errors.  This new rule book says 2020 but should be a match for the rules we used in 2019.  The rule change proposals accepted by the board at the fall meeting will be incorporated after the expiration of the member comment period.
The refactoring team whittled our 269 page book down to just under 100 pages!

Stephen Kurtzahn will be joining the EAA/IAC team on Monday, October 28th as the new IAC Executive Director.  Steve will have responsibility over all IAC operations; including managing events such as the IAC presence at AirVenture and the U.S. National Aerobatic Championships. In the role, he will enjoy interacting with the IAC Board of Directors and building support for the IAC membership and IAC chapters while continuing to grow the relationship between IAC and EAA.
