The 2021 edition of the Offical IAC Rule Book is now available to members at https://www.iac.org/download-contest-rules. (IAC member login is required.)

Most of the changes are a direct result of IAC member input. Twenty-five proposals were submitted. After these were published last fall, other IAC members provided comments. EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2021 will include a full roster of forums in the IAC’s Vicki Cruse Educational Pavilion at the IAC Aerobatic Center. The forums are scheduled daily from Tuesday, July 27, through Friday, July 30, 2021, and run for approximately one hour and 15 minutes each.

A fantastic lineup of aerobatic and unusual attitude forums throughout the week are being planned. The speakers below are scheduled and more information on their topics will be added - check back!

The IAC recently had a change in their Judge and Rules programs.  Doug Sowder has stepped down from the Rules program to take on other things.  Doug is an IAC President Emeritus, and a fantastic volunteer who will continue to serve the IAC in other areas.  We are sad to see him leave this position but very happy to announce that Barrett Hines has been appointed to take on the Rules program on an interim basis.  Barrett is frequently called on to be a juror in contests in the Southwest region because of his calm demeanor, intellect, and his prodigious understanding of the subject matter. …

The 2020 season will be long remembered for the Coronavirus shutdown which took most of our competition season away.  While it was not possible for everyone to compete, some of our most die-hard enthusiasts worked very hard to make the competition season as full as possible.  This year, the IAC recognizes those who put in extra effort with a special IAC Presidential Recognition certificate.

IAC president Jim Bourke is honored this year to award an IAC President’s Award to John Housley for his work in creating a new award program specifically for biplane enthusiasts.

A number of IAC's U.S. National Aerobatic Championship and volunteer trophies are housed in two cases in the IAC Pavilion on the EAA AirVenture grounds. The EAA Aviation Museum contains various sections dedicated to the various forms of flight. On the south west side of the musuem there is an entire area dedicated to Air Racing and Aerobatics. From time to time the currators set up special displays, retire items, rearrange displays and bring in new items.

The purposed known sequences for 2021 were presented at the IAC fall board meeting by Sequence Program Chair Michael Lents on November 14. The Intermediate power sequence was sent back after that meeting for a revision to add a snap roll. The board met again in December and approved the Intermediate power sequence, which now has a positive snap roll added to the "P" loop in figure one.
