On behalf of our present and past US Advanced Aerobatic Teams, Team 23 expresses our profound sadness at the passing of Nikolay Timofeev.  Nik was a great competitor, team member, judge and coach. Though he was involved in many aspects of our sport, he holds a special place in the hearts of all the Advanced competitors and teams he worked with over the years.  We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all that will mourn his loss.

Extra Aircraft’s founder and CEO, Walter Extra, announced the newest addition to their model lineup, the 330SX.  This single seat, steel fuselage, and carbon fiber wing/empennage aerobatic monoplane is the company’s evolution of the proven eight-time world championship winning 330SC.  The 330SX first flew on June 06, 2023, and is currently in flight testing with deliveries expected to start at the beginning of Q3 2024.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 includes a full roster of forums in the IAC’s Vicki Cruse Educational Pavilion at the IAC Aerobatic Center. The forums are scheduled daily from Tuesday, July 25, through Friday, July 28, 2023, and run for approximately one hour and 15 minutes each.

A fantastic lineup of aerobatic and unusual attitude forums throughout the week are planned. International Aerobatics Day has become a global celebration that aims to promote the art and skill of aerobatic flying. This annual event, observed on the 4th Saturday in June, brings together aviation enthusiasts to appreciate the exhilarating displays of precision and control showcased by skilled pilots. The day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the rich history and significance of aerobatics in aviation, as well as its contribution to flight safety through enhanced maneuvering skills.

Clinton Alexander McHenry, Jr. died peacefully in Belle Glade, FL on April 14, 2023 at the age of 96. Clint is survived by his children, Karen Stephens (John), Jon, and Leigh Woodham (Brent), grandchildren Clint McHenry IV, Jeffrey Woodham (Jeffrey Pierce), David Woodham, and Kimberly Clark (Chris). He was preceded in death by his wife Marcia Roeding McHenry, son Clinton Alexander McHenry III, parents Clinton Alexander McHenry and Anna Lowry McHenry, and grandson Luke Woodham.
