The Chapter 49 Los Angeles Aerobatic Club is thrilled to announce that Duel in the Desert is back again to kickoff the IAC 2026 Aerobatic Season. Come shake the Winter Rust off at the famous General William J Fox Airflied (KWJF).
What you can expect:
- Large runway with a friendly control tower to ease flight operations
- Freshly marked Aerobatic Box with great visual grid aids
- Livestreamed contest days for friends and family to view
- Large terminal building with restaurant attached
- Breakfast and lunch served on official practice day and contest day
- Snacks and drinks well stocked in terminal and on the judging line
- We will be providing Hoodies instead of T-shirts for all competitors and volunteers.
Approximate Schedule:
Thursday, March 12
- 0900 to 1600: Registration and Tech (contact CD ahead of time for late arrivals)
- 0900 to 1900 (Sunset): Practice
- Evening: Restaurants in town
Friday, March 13
- 0645: Breakfast in the Terminal
- 0700: Mandatory Pilot's Briefing
- 0830 to 1900 (Sunset): FLYING
Saturday, March 14
- 0645: Breakfast in the Terminal
- 0700: Mandatory Pilot's Briefing
- 0830 to End of Contest: Flying
- 1400 (Approx): 4-minute Free Routine
- 1800 (Approx): Gala Banquet & Awards (location will be announced, stay tuned)
