The Legacy category, which had been provisional,and established at the 2019 Spring Board Meeting, concluded its first contest season in 2019. While it was not widely utilized, it was decided at the 2019 Fall Board meeting that it should continue into the 2020 contest season with an eye toward including it in our U.S. Nationals. Everyone likes the idea of the former competitors returning to both regional contests and Nationals and competing among themselves.

The IAC helps facilitate the three following scholarships annually. The scholarships all have an application deadline of June 30, 2020.  Application forms can be downloaded from the IAC website: www.iac.org/scholarships . Follow the submission instructions on the application form carefully. Return the completed applications to: iac@eaa.org  The recipients of the three scholarships are announced at AirVenture in July 2020 (the recipient does not need to be present).

Newly edited and formatted applications for the Glider and Power Achievement Awards have been added online to the Achievement Award webpage.  The previous forms had some errors and were outdated, which led to some confusion for applicants. IAC Achievement Award Co-Chairs, Dave Watson and Brittanee Lincoln have revised the forms.

The 2019 Winner of the L. Paul Soucy Trophy is Leigh Hubner of Locust Grove, Georgia.  Originally from Australia, he moved to Los Angeles, California in 2012.

The final scores are in for the 2019 regional series competition. Fifty-three (53) pilots successfully competed at three or more contests needed to qualify for the series and place in the top three in their category for their respective region.

The regional series began in 2002. To be eligible, a pilot must fly at least three contests during the year and one contest may include the U.S. Nationals. If more than three contests are flown, the highest scores are used to arrive at each participant’s total percentage. First, second and third place decals are awarded to qualified…
