Lew Shattuck was selected by the IAC Hall of Fame committee and the Board of Directors to be inducted into the International Aerobatic Hall of Fame for 2023. The official ceremonies took place in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on November 9, 2023.

Before getting started in aerobatics, Lew Shattuck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. While serving, Shattuck gained experience flying many different military fighter aircraft. In the summer of 1966, Shattuck was captured after his F-105 was shot down in North Vietnam and was kept as a prisoner for more than six years before being released. He…

It came as a simple inquiry on who might want to take over the Acroexploder followed rapidly by an announcement. "For health reasons I can no longer manage the Exploder. It was quite some time ago that I started it. I think it worked well for all these years. Peter H. Schmidt will manage the Exploder from now on," posted by Dr. Guenther Eichorn on July 7, 2023.

Each year, the membership of the International Aerobatic Club nominates outstanding volunteers to be recognized for their contributions to the sport of aerobatics. The award winners are selected by a secret ballot of the IAC Board of Directors. In typical years the award recipients were recognized at the IAC Annual Member Meeting at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. If the recipient is not present at AirVenture, the awards will be presented to the recipients at the U.S. National Aerobatic Championships in Salina, Kansas.
