The IAC Official Contest Rules 2013 has just been updated with Revision 24.1, dated 23 April 2013. Sections affected by this edit are: 4.11.2 (page 4-9); 6.13.5 including Fig. 6.13.2 (page 6-10); and 7.3.1(d) (page 7-3). Page 2 of the Foreword was also changed to reflect these  revisions.

At the Spring Director's meeting in San Carlos, the Board approved new aerobatic titles to be hosted each year by one Eastern U.S. and one Western U.S. Regional contest.  The titles are "IAC Open Champion East" and "IAC Open Champion West" for each category flown at the host contests.

This year the Wildwoods Acroblast will host the IAC Open East.  The IAC Open West will be determined shortly.  Look for your May issue of Sport Aerobatics to read details.

On April 6, 2013 the IAC Board of Directors gave preliminary approval to revisions resulting in P&P 504, 15 June 2013, Revision 27, for the 2013 Contest Season. A two month member comment period is required prior to final acceptance by the Board, hence the proposed revision date. Comments may be made below (login required), or they may be made to your regional IAC Director.

The IAC Collegiate Program is a finalist for a Lightspeed Aviation Foundation grant that would send five Collegiate competitors to H-R Aviation in LaPorte, Texas, to train five hours with Debby Rihn-Harvey.

At the Spring Board Meeting on April 6/7, 2013, the IAC Board of Directors determined that Form A as produced by the current version of  OpenAero software is NOT ACCEPTABLE for Free Program submittal at U.S. Regional Contests. This is basically a CIVA form and does not meet the requirements of IAC Official Contest Rules Sect. 6.12, regardless of the logo that may be shown.  OpenAero-produced Forms B and C ARE acceptable provided that they are certified and dated by a current judge per Rules Sect. 6.14, along the right-hand margin on the long side of the form (in the usual place).
