The 2015 version of the IAC Official Contest Rules is now available for download.  The rules have just been finalized by Brian Howard, Chairman of the IAC Rules Committee, in cooperation with the members of the Committee.

Proposals for the 2015 contest year were considered by the Committee and submitted to the IAC Board of Directors for their review and approval when the Board met in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on November 12 and 13, 2014.

This summer will mark the 70th anniversary of the first test flight of the Pitts S-1 by Curtis Pitts himself.  This aircraft went on to become one of the premiere aerobatic aircraft of all times and continues to enjoy an active life in the hands of competition and recreational pilots around the world.  It remains one of the iconic aircraft types in aerobatic history and made possible the foundation, growth, and expansion of IAC in the 1970's.  Its importance to aerobatic development cannot be overemphasized.

Wes Liu of Brookline, New Hampshire has been appointed the new Chair of the IAC's Judges Program.  The program serves to certify and renew IAC Regional and National Judges and to organize Judges Schools across the country.  Since all contests require competent judges, the program has been one of IAC's most important initiatives since 1970.  The Judges Chair also serves on the IAC Rules Committee.

As a key ingredient in "The New IAC" initiative announced by IAC President Mike Heuer in the January issue of Sport Aerobatics, a new family of IAC logos has been rolled out this month in the culmination of a months-long project to re-brand IAC and to update our look and image.  That project was undertaken by IAC's marketing chair, Margo Chase of California, who is a marketing and branding professional, a long-time IAC member, and active pilot and competitor.

Beginning immediately any Primary or Sportsman Stars or Smooth Award Applicant will receive their first award patch for free.  The IAC Achievement Awards program recognizes accomplishments of individuals for aerobatic proficiency obtained in a non-competition environment (Smooth Achievement) or at at competition (Stars Achievement).

The 2015 Known sequence for the Primary category is now officially approved and published -- see the attachment below.

During its meeting on the 12th and 13th of November in Oshkosh, the IAC Board of Directors reviewed all of the proposals for Known sequences for the 2015 contest year.  These were submitted to the Board for consideration by IAC Rules Chairman Brian Howard.  Every proposal was reviewed by the IAC Known Sequence Sub-Committee, made up of experienced pilots with different backgrounds and competition histories.
