It is with much heartache and regret that I inform you that Margo Chase lost her life late yesterday afternoon in an accident at Apple Valley, California. She was practicing an Unlimited sequence in her Panzl at the time. We do not know the cause and will not speculate out of respect.

Margo was one of the most skilled, talented, and dedicated people I have ever met in my life. Though I first met her a few years at a Board meeting, over the last three years we worked very closely on IAC projects and my admiration for her only grew. Each year, the membership of the IAC nominates outstanding volunteers to be recognized for their contribution to the sport of aerobatics. The award recipients are selected by secret ballot of the IAC Board of Directors.

The first informational Bulletin for the 2017 U.S. National Aerobatic Championships has now been finalized and is published as a PDF available for download below. The Bulletin contains a wealth of important information regarding the Nationals including schedules, arrival procedures, entry fee details, and many other important pieces of information for those attending as competitors and volunteers.

The easy answer is everyone! Whether you are a competitor, judge, volunteer, observer or family member. For the first time in over 40 years, Nationals has a new home. Participating in the championships in Oshkosh on the AirVenture grounds will be special. And it will be secure. EAA is providing us with gate security, so ID or wristbands will be issued for entry to everyone who comes to the Nationals this year.

Each year, AirVenture airshow organizers include an IAC exhibition to highlight the skill and discipline that it takes to fly competition aerobatics. Cameron Jaxheimer, IAC 436475, has been invited to be this year's demonstrator, scheduled for Sunday's show. Cameron, flying an EXTRA 330SC, represented the IAC as a member of the 2016 U.S. Advanced Aerobatic Team. He was the highest-placing U.S. competitor in the World Advanced Aerobatic Competition in Poland last year.

Getting ready for AirVenture? Have a question about parking your airplane or what hours the IAC Pavilion is in operation?  All the details are posted in a downloadable pdf or here on the IAC website. Some basic info;

  • EAA AIrVenture will run from Monday, July 24 through Sunday, July 30, 2017.
  • The IAC Pavilion will operate during AirVenture every day from 0800-1900 Central Daylight TIme (CDT)
