Scores for the 2003 Regional Championship Series have been tabulated by Tom Myers, the official scorekeeper for the series.

The Regional Championship Series began in 2002 and continues to grow in participation according to IAC Executive Director Lisa Popp. “In 2003, 80 members participated in the series, up from 60 in 2002.”

To be eligible, a pilot must fly at least three contests during the year (two for the Northwest Region due to unavailability of contest sites). If more than three contests are flown, the highest scores are used to arrive at each…

Jose Louis de Aresti Aguirre, widely known within the aerobatic community and member of the International Aerobatic Club (IAC) Hall of Fame, passed away on November 18 in Madrid, Spain at the age of 84.

Aresti was most widely known for his work in developing the aerocryptographic system, or shorthand, for recording aerobatic maneuvers, more commonly known as the “Sistema Aresti” or Aresti System. His aerobatic figure diagrams allowed internationally competing pilots to communicate, even when they did not speak the same language. The Aresti System is accepted worldwide as the system…

Don Taylor was inducted into the Aerobatics Hall of Fame at the October 24, 2003 induction ceremonies at the EAA Aviation Center, Oshkosh, Wisconsin for his contributions to the world of flight.

 
 
 Don Taylor was born into aviation…an OX-5 American Eagle provided his "Young 
 Eagle" ride at 6 weeks of age. Don rode on his mother's lap. He learned to fly in
 high school, soloed at 16, received his private pilot's license at 17 and was a
 Commercial Flight Instructor by 18.

In November of each year, the International Aerobatics Commission (CIVA) meets to review proposals from national aero clubs and to plan the future of aerobatics worldwide. CIVA is part of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, the world governing body for all air sports.
