The award was conceived and donated by L. Paul Soucy of Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Soucy was one of the first members of IAC and the Board of Directors. His purpose was to recognize not only skilled pilots but also those who supported a minimum number of contests as well as the U.S. National Aerobatic Championships. He died in 1971.

Judges training is moving into the 21st century!   The Introduction to Aerobatic Judging course day 1 content is now available on YouTube!  The course is broken down into segments, listed below.  Each segment is a video that presents PowerPoint slides.   Some slides contain video illustrating a topic.

For each video segment, there is a quiz on the IAC web site that may be accessed through the Judges Exams page.

To refresh their knowledge and satisfy the IAC Official Contest Rules requirements for Judges currency, at the beginning of each year we spend some quality time with the newly issued rulebook.  With refreshed knowledge each Judge takes the annual R&C Exam.  The exam is a mix of questions about new changes to the rules, questions about the rulebook answer to situations seen at contests, and some general rules questions.  Passing score is 80%.

Congratulations to the individuals below who have applied for and received Achievement Awards from flying in a non-contest environment (Smooth Achievement) or at contest (Stars Achievement) in the Fourth Quarter of 2015.

As a reminder, First time Primary or Sportsman Stars or Smooth Award Applicant will receive their first award patch for free. Applicants for Glider or Power Primary or Sportsman Achievement Awards should fill out an application and only send payment for additional patches, pins or decals. As a result of requests from members, the International Aerobatic Club has partnered again with Harris Connect to create a 2016 membership album, a showcase of member stories and the sport's history. The last membership album was produced in 2000.

The album will list current IAC members and feature a member profile section in which folks can contribute stories and photographs to celebrate our sport and the impact it has had on their lives.

Call for Annual Non-Flying Award Nominations
Each year, the membership of the IAC nominates outstanding volunteers to be recognized for their contribution to the sport of aerobatics.

This is an excellent opportunity to give recognition to an outstanding IAC member who spends their valuable time volunteering for the benefit of many.  Let's recognize our unsung heroes for 2015!
