Donate Today!

Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic which resulted in the unprecedented shutdown of so many of our recreational activities, a number of IAC members have queried the IAC leadership on possible fundraising to bolster the IAC's bottom line in this fiscal year. We appreciate that sort of caring and concern and have now added an online option so that members who wish to do so may direct donations to the IAC's General Fund via our website, IAC.org.

The deadline for submission for IAC members to propose changes to the IAC Official Contest Rules for the 2021 contest season was July 1st. These proposals have now been compiled by IAC Rules Chair Doug Sowder. A total of 25 proposals from the membership were received. A PDF with all of the rule proposals is available for download below.

Akrofest

"Hey there are 35+ pilots at Akrofest", IAC President Jim Bourke texted to Sport Aerobatics editor, Lorrie Penner. He went on to add that fourteen of the 35+ are in the Primary category and nine of those are first time competitors! Both the Ohio Aerobatic Open scheduled for October 15-17 and Spring 81 scheduled for November 7-8 have canceled their contests. Although both were eager to hold their annual contests, they both have opted to have practice days.

Ohio, IAC chapter 34, had enough pilots, judges and volunteers to hold a contest and could comply with their state's COVID-19 guidelines, but a late start on an airport summer resurfacing project has left the ramp space at 50% capacity. Verne Jobst has been selected by the IAC Hall of Fame committee and the Board of Directors to be inducted into the International Aerobatics Hall of Fame. The official ceremonies normally take place in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. An announcement will be made for a date in 2021.

In 1970, Verne was one of the earliest members of the IAC having joined in the first few weeks of the club’s formation. He went on to make a significant impact on the development of the IAC in its formative years.
