The energy crisis is uppermost in everyone's thoughts throughout the 
world today. The good news is that is seems to be letting up quite a bit. Fuel is suddenly becoming more plentiful from the local operators. The dramatic change in the fuel allocations given to aircraft in general aviation is gratifying.However, it truly is not yet adequate since we are still the one industry to have to take it "harder on the chin" than any other group.

The IAC logo has been modernized only once in its 28 year history, in 1987. Now, after twenty years, the logo has again received a facelift. The historic and traditional shield has been retained , IAC letters were slanted and the new EAA 'swoop' symbol has been incorporated.

Nonflying Awards are presented:
The Frank Price Cup - Wayne Roberts: For his impact on relationships with the regulatory authorities that, in many ways, exert control over all our flying activities. He worked extensively with the FAA to streamline applications for contest and aerobatic practice area waivers and to reduce the requirements for detailed environmental assessments at the majority of contest and practice sites.

Robert L. Heuer Trophy for Judging Excellence - John Morrissey: . It is impossible to estimate how many aerobatic competition pilots have benefited from the work he has done with coaching, with judging, and with heading up the judges’ line at countless contests.

Kathy Jaffe Volunteer Award -  Gary Debaun: an indefatigable volunteer. For the past several 
years,he’s been a fixture at the U.S. Nationals as tech inspector and/or starter. Besides Nationals, Gary has supported regional events in multiple roles. 

Harold Neumann Award for Outstanding Chief Judge - Lynne Stoltenberg: For serving as a chief judge at the U.S. Nationals for many years. As a chief judge, she runs smooth, efficient 
flights in all categories every time. Lynne is known for her leadership qualities and fairness.

Pitts Memorial Trophy - Jim Rust: The designer of the Whirl Wind model 200C and 400C composite aerobatic propeller, as well as several other propeller models for non-aerobatic applications.
