Yesterday was the beginning of the 2017 U.S. National Aerobatic Championships in Oshkosh, Wisconsin with Opening Ceremonies at the EAA Aviation Museum and the first flights in the afternoon of the Advanced category. Altogether, 89 pilots are registered and flying in the event with the largest category being Advanced Power with 25 pilots. Selection of a U.S. Advanced Aerobatic Team is underway this week with 8 pilots to be selected to compete in the World Championships in that category next summer in Romania.

Congratulations to our own Rob Holland for his 4th consecutive win of the Four Minute Freestyle. Nationals Bulletin #3. Though not as lengthy as the previous bulletins, it has important information that has changed since the publication of the previous bulletins. The bulletin includes a traffic route map and a grounds map, both with all of the buildings labeled that will be used during Nationals. Changes in Bulletin #3 include:

·         Closure of Waukau Avenue which necessitates entering the EAA site via a different route.

·         General parking now to be in the L Lot, adjacent to Gate 31 and not far from Building C (hangar).

The Ben Glattstein Keystone Classic has been cancelled by the organizers. The contest was to have taken place on October 20-21, 2017 at Keystone Heights Airport, Florida. The cancellation is due in part to the hurricane, they were not able to secure enough judges, and in addition they had picked the contest dates because they are during Fall break, however some pilots that are students might have to attend classes during Fall break to make up for missed days during school closing for Hurricane Irma.
