The IAC recently welcomed Phillip Gragg as president, which vacated the Vice President position that he'd filled before that. Now, Shad Coulson has been appointed as the new IAC VP. Congratulations, Shad, and we thank you for all the work you do to make the IAC the best it can be! We're lucky to have you.
About Shad: Shad Coulson is a dedicated and accomplished aerobatic competitor, organizer, and leader with a proven record of excellence in competition, governance, and event management. Committed to advancing the mission of the IAC, Shad supports pilots at all levels, and is always working toward strengthening the aerobatic community.
In his 2026 director campaign statement, Shad said, "I look forward to continuing to serve the IAC community and helping shape its future."
Shad has been actively competing in aerobatics since 2018 and has won the national championship three times: once in intermediate and twice in Advanced. Shad also was a three-time member of the U.S. Glider Aerobatic Team. Shad's IAC leadership and administrative volunteer service incudes being the chair of the Glider committee since 2022, a member of the Rules and Sequence Committee since 2022, a director on the IAC board of directors since 2024, the Vice President of IAC chapter 62 from 2022-2026, the Contest Director of the Estrella Classic since 2020, and the contest director of the U.S. National Aerobatic Championships from 2023-2026.
Bringing a balanced perspective as a competitor, organizer, and current board member, Shad prioritizes a strong commitment to safety, fairness, and growth in aerobatics, which is just one reason of many to explain why we're excited to welcome Shad to the role of vice-president of the IAC.
