2017 Rule Change Recognizes BasicMed

Of interest to some of you is a 2017 change to Rule 2.1, Competitor Qualifications. The new rule recognizes the BasicMed medical certification being put into use by the FAA later this year.  Anyone qualifying under the BasicMed regulations will be able to compete without a current FAA Medical Certificate regardless of the airplane flown.  The 2017 rule book with this and many other changes will be online not later than mid-February.

The FAA has published the BasicMed rules, the regulations do not go into effect until May 1, 2017. Visit the FAA website for more information about BasicMed rules; https://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/basic_med/
