World Air Games Completes

The aerobatics portion of the World Air Games has now been completed and US National Aerobatic Champion Rob Holland (shown below) brings home a Bronze medal for his third place finish overall. The powered aerobatics pilots flew a Known, Free, Free Unknown, and 4 Minute Freestyle and unlike classical competitions like WAC, the 4 Minute was counted in the final results.

Not to be outdone, however, Holland once again proved his skill and prowess in the 4 Minute Freestyle, winning the event and bringing home Gold.  He competed in Dubai with three consecutive wins of the Freestyle at the World Aerobatic Championships and decisively won the event in Dubai by 177 points over second place finisher Martin Sonka of the Czech Republic. Holland flew a borrowed MXS (N540XX) which he shared with South African pilot Nigel Hopkins.

In gliders, American pilot Eric Lentz-Gauthier was disqualified on the last flight and this resulted in a last place finish for Eric in the glider aerobatics section of the World Air Games.
