Each year we create a "basic page" of sequences specifically for the Nationals. The page name is in the form: www.iac.org/nationals-YYYY-sequences, where YYYY is the current year. This is most easily accomplished by cloning a previous year's page and removing the sequence thumbnails.
First, upload a PDF file to the Sequences archive. After the upload, the system automatically generates a thumbnail JPG. Here are the steps:
- Navigate to https://www.iac.org/node/add/sequence
- For the Title field, enter the PDF file name
- Under PDF File, click Browse..., select the file you want, then click Upload
- Skip the thumbnail section
- Under Year, enter the current four-digit year
- Check the appropriate boxes for Category and Type of Sequence
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save
Next, get the URL of the thunbnail file as follows:
- Go to the Sequences page and find the newly-created sequence file.
- Right-click on the thumbnail and select Copy Image Location (or words to that effect, they vary by browser)
- The value will be something like: https://www.iac.org/sites/www.iac.org/files/styles/medium/public/16672-0.jpg?itok=t9bL1Sc5. Only the part in bold matters, jot that down.
Finally, update the Nationals sequence page as follows:
- Navigate to https://www.iac.org/nationals-2019-sequences
- Click the 'Edit' tab
- Type the sequence name ("Unknown", "Free Unknown A", etc.)
- Use the WYSIWYG "Image" button (next-to-last button on the top toolbar) to insert the bolded portion of thumbnail URL (see bolded text ab
- Click-and-drag over both the title and the image, click the WYSIWYG hyperlink icon (looks like one link of a chain), and enter the path to the PDF file (also beginning with /files/...).
- Scroll to the bottom and click 'Save'.
