By AJ Hefel, IAC 23752
On May 7th of this year, Louis B. Judy, known by everyone as “Bud”, flew his final flight into the heavens above. Bud was featured in the July 2020 edition of Sport Aerobatics in an article called “Meet A Member” written by Zinnia Kilkenny. You can click HERE to access the digital July 2020 issue of Sport Aerobatics, and Bud Judy's article is on page 62. You can also access a .pdf of only the 2 pages of Bud Judy's article, separate from the magazine, by downloading the document below or by clicking HERE.
As was reported in that article, Bud had been involved in IAC from its infancy, and he actively participated in our club for over 50 years. He was a 3-time US National Champion with his latest win occurring in 2006 in the Intermediate Category – at the age of 72. Bud served in many capacities in local IAC chapter 24, in regional and national contests, and in IAC national board positions. More important to note, however, was Bud’s positive influence to all he met in the sport and his dedication to helping others in any capacity he could any time there was a need.
To paraphrase from the July 2020 article, he was “forthright, not self-aggrandizing, and without false modesty – a truly genteel man”. Bud will be greatly missed by all those he touched in his amazing time in the IAC community.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” for Bud on the 3rd of October at 1600, at 3533 Nassau Ct (Nassau Bay Airport), Granbury TX. All friends are welcome to attend.
