Origin

The Giles Henderson Trophy was conceived by President Emeritus, Mike Heuer of Tennessee and funded by donations from friends and IAC members in memory of Giles Henderson, 2012 IAC Hall of Fame member. The trophy is given each year to the U.S. Sportsman Aerobatic Champion.

Criteria

Winner of the powered Sportsman category at the United States National Aerobatic Championships.

Procedures

A laser cut plaque is ordered by the Executive Director along with the other trophies for the U.S. Nationals. No name is inscribed.

Presentation

The first five years of the recipient trophies are funded by donations from friends and IAC members, thereafter the IAC will fund the recipient trophies. The trophy will consist of a laser cut plaque with a photograph of the permanent trophy set in the plaque. The master trophy remains on display at the IAC Pavilion in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The plaque is presented at the U.S. National Aerobatic Championships annual awards banquet.
