Hill Country Hammerfest

We have a shortage of hangar space this year.  If you attend this contest please do so knowing that your airplane will be tied down outside for the duration of the contest!

Great news aerobatic enthusiasts.  Hammerfest 2021 is a go!  It is time for your annual pilgrimage to the Texas Hill Country...Chapter 107 is again hosting Hammerfest in Llano, Texas (KAQO).  Our dates should avoid the worst of the Texas heat and give everyone the chance to enjoy a contest before winter arrives.

Practice and registration will be on Thursday, 14 October 2021.

Contest flying will be on Friday, 15 October 2021 (all day) and Saturday, 16 October 2021 (hopefully complete by early afternoon so folks can fly home).

Back-up/rain day is Sunday, 17 October 2021.

In the interest of maximum participation we will also fly the "Legacy" category at our contest again this year if there is interest.  So, if you're a semi-retired competition pilot get up off the couch and back in the game.  If you plan on competing as a Legacy Pilot please let me know so we can generate the appropriate actions.  See details on the Legacy Category here...https://www.iac.org/news/2019-05-11-the-new-iac-legacy-category

While not requiring pre-registration like 2020 I would still ask you to pre-register or contact me so we have a good base of information to plan with.  Thanks in advance!

Llano offers plenty of accommodations, both hotel and B&B.  While there is no official contest hotel many of the local options are affordable and convenient.  A quick perusal of several websites revealed the following options (in no particular order):

Best Western Llano (325) 247-4101
Lone Star Inn (325) 247-4111
Day's Inn (325) 247-1141
Llano Motel (325) 247-5786

There were also numerous B&B type options in town and nearby.  Please do your research and choose the option that's best for you.

And yes, we will have cookies! Many pilots have reported that the main reason they make it to our contest is the cookies.  They are that good.

If you have questions, or need more information, contact the CD, Doug Jenkins, at bagsf15 [at] yahoo.com or phone 210-485-8025.  We look forward to seeing you in Llano!

Rule Deviations
Request permission to have either one or zero boundary Judges. Our SE corner is extremely remote and borderline unsafe so even if I have enough volunteers I would prefer not to fill that position. We plan to fill our NW boundary but that will be the first position unfilled as volunteers fall out.

Request waiver of 19.1.1 due to a lack of hangar space to allow a very few (less than three) locally based pilots to "commute." This waiver will only be used with the concurrence of ALL pilots in the categories in question.
