Please join the IAC Board in congratulating Jonathan Gaffney and Bruce Ballew in their recent appointments to the board. Jonathan comes to us as the NAA Representative and Bruce will be the Mid America Region Director finishing the remainder of Bob Freeman’s term. The IAC and its board thank Bob for his service and wish him the best in his new opportunity in Korea.
IAC is asking for your input in what you want in a new website. IAC has a dedicated task force set up for this project, but we need your help. What information do you want on the website? How do you want information displayed? Is there a website you like a lot? Tell us about what you like about it. This is wide open, so please provide your input. Aerobatics legend and International Aerobatics Club Hall of Fame member Betty Skelton – the “First Lady of Aerobatics” – died at her home in Winter Park, Florida, on Tuesday at the age of 85. Skelton was a pioneer as a female aerobatic competitor and air show performer, winning the U.S. National Female Aerobatic Championships for three straight years (1948-1950). She also made the Pitts Special airplane famous, as her performances in her “Lil Stinker” created a market for the biplane designed by Curtis Pitts. That airplane is now part of the National Air and Space Museum collection.
