The United States National Aerobatic Championships begins in less than three weeks and Contest Director Gray Brandt and Assistant Contest Director Casey Erickson will be putting the finishing touches to the event in the remaining days ahead. 

The contest will take place from 20-27 September 2014 at the North Texas Regional Airport (KGYI) in Sherman/Denison, Texas.  The event has been held at this airport almost continuously since 1972.  As always, National Champions will be named as well as a US Aerobatic Team in Unlimited category.  The Team will compete at the 28th FAI World…

The IAC Board of Directors met by teleconference on Thursday, August 28th, to make appointments to fill vacancies created on the Board by the latest election.

Former IAC President Doug McConnell was appointed Vice President, to serve out the remainder of President Mike Heuer's term. Doug brings enormous experience to the Board as it was under his administration IAC reached its peak in membership numbers. CP Aviation is pleased to announce the winner of this year’s Emergency Maneuver Training Scholarship given each year in memory of Vicki Cruse.  Congratulations go to Jason Navarro of Waukesha, WI.  Jason is a fairly new pilot and wants to continue to challenging his skills and become a safer pilot.  He also said in his essay that his reasons are selfish and that he would be remiss if he didn’t mention the element of wanting to experience aerobatics.  We look forward to meeting Jason and introducing him to unusual attitudes and basic aerobatics.

The Kathy Jaffe Challenge has run since 1999 at various places in IAC Chapter 52 territory-- first at Monticello, New York in the Catskill Mountains,  then for many years at the Flying-W in Lumberton, New Jersey; one year at Hammonton in southern New Jersey; lately at South Jersey Regional, also in Lumberton, New Jersey.

For those of you who missed Beaver State this year, we missed you. As usual, the contest was lots of fun with a wide and diverse group of competitors. Our normal cast of characters and some new faces from the local area as well as some old and new faces who traveled to come all combined to make it a great contest.
