We are Chapter 36 of the International Aerobatic Club (IAC). IAC, a division of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), is an organization that promotes the sport of aerobatics, provides standards for measuring the quality of aerobatic flight, and is the central governing board for contest aerobatics. IAC also works with the FAA in matters regarding aerobatic flight and associated regulations.
While IAC operates at a national level, local chapters within the organization operate at a regional level. Chapter 36 is one of five IAC chapters operating in California. The chapter was founded in 1975 and was originally comprised of pilots operating in the San Diego area. The reach of Chapter 36 now encompasses active members in San Diego, Orange, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties.
Chapter 36 is a chapter that hosts two contests annually (in Borrego Springs). The chapter is very active and would love to hear from you if you have an interest in aerobatics (regardless of your status as a pilot). We have many members who aren't pilots at all but simply enjoy the activity.
