Socially Distant Sebring Competition!

IAC Chapter 23, Florida, is having a Socially Distant Sebring Competition. You can pick as many or as little of the Challenges to Participate in based on what is available to you during this COVID-19 Quarantine.

Submissions must be sent by May 2nd via email, facebook, Aerobatics Google Group or text. All submissions will be posted on @IACChapter23 Facebook Page unless you specifically ask for it not to be shared on that forum.

Challenges are:

- "The Three, Let me be Freed from Quarantine, Flights" Fly the 2020 Known, Free and an Unknown of your category with an IAC Judge watching a grading you from the ground. Submit those Score Sheets with the Judges name and signature. Don't have a judge? Send a video from the ground or from your view in the cockpit and we will get a Judge to Grade it and comment on your flight. You pick an Unknown Sequence no earlier than 5pm the night before and fly the next day.

- "Sneeze in your Elbow Slow Roll Challenge" Who can fly the slowest slow roll while maintaining altitude? Recorded video on head view mounted cameras. Videos must be in real time! If you know how to edit a clock in the video, please do, if not, don't worry about it. This is scored based on Time and 10 Seconds will be removed from your time if there is altitude loss noticed. The Longest Timed Roll will win.

- "The COVID Cool Move Challenge" Social Media Voted. Fly some new and exciting figure and video tape it either from the Cockpit or from the Ground. Votes will be based on number of likes on Facebook and will be counted 5am on May 3rd. With your video post/email please also draw up or explain what the figure was.

- "I Fly so Good, No Virus can Touch This": Four Minute Free! Video taped from the cockpit or the ground. Difference is: This is also based on number of likes on Facebook and will be counted 5am on May 3rd.

-"Rolls on a Vertical, no Pukes, no Fevers Please" Who can get the most rolls on a vertical up. Start speed cannot exceed aircraft limitations. Rolls must be on the vertical up. Every 5 degrees off in pitch will result in a quarter roll less penalty. Will count all rolls while the nose is pointing up and will stop counting when the vertical up flight path is left (That pitch change will not be counted as a penalty). Rolls during a tail slide will be counted, but only if your airplane is certified/designed to tail slide. Video must be high enough quality to get good visual of the horizon (If cockpit view, cockpit view pointed at the wing tip) or the aircraft (if ground view) to determine number of rolls. If you don't have a video camera but have an IAC Judge, that Judge can submit your number of rolls.

-"Corona doesn't Furlough's Bozo!" That's right folks there will still be a Bozo. Recommended by all past Bozo's and chosen by our Current Bozo, Peter Nassar. Submissions can be from any activity since last Fall's Sebring and must include a story (Videos are highly encouraged, but not necessary). Although only past Bozo's can recommend, anyone can submit. For those not familiar with the Bozo, this is an honorable position, held by only the finest of screw ups. Yes, I'm am an elite member . The Current and Honorable Bozo will have the right to retain Bozo until Fall Sebring if he so chooses to do an in person change of command.

Ground Rules:

1. Fairness: Please be honest with submissions, but I understand judges will be different and there is a level on inequality in each Challenge. These points only count towards bragging rights and hopefully some good learning. The purpose here is to make up for our loss commodore that we normally get this time of year at Competitions. Post as much as you'd like, offer coaching, jokes, and likes towards eachother. I know I'm not the only one missing my Aerobatic Family, this is to fill that void and get some good flying in.

2. Anyone can submit, as long as you're a legal pilot in your Country for the aircraft you are handling.

3. Must follow Rules and Regulations, aircraft limitations, and cannot fly any lower than allowed by your appropriate Category. Nice thing about the cockpit video submissions is you can fly as high as you'd like.

4. Video submissions from cockpit view must be similar to what you view (Can see off the nose and/or wingtip), horizontal reference must be high enough quality and camera location good enough to tell what is going on. Most preferred would be on your head so we can see what you would see, but I understand this may not be the best or safest set up you have, so use best judgement. Multiple camera views are allowed, if you are doing this please have the videos synched up so when its submitted we can see all views playing together.

5. Submissions can be scanned or sent to this email, posted on IAC Chapter 23 Facebook page, texted to my number, or posted to Aerobatic Google Group as a reply to this post. All submissions will be put on Facebook whether that be by you or me. (If you do not want your submission on Facebook, please let me know). If you do not get a reply back from me saying I got your submission, please contact me. I will check submissions each morning. Replies to posts and comments, send them all, however you'd like, and as much as you want, I will also move those to Facebook unless specifically asked not to. Submissions must be sent by 1159 pm (2359) EST May 2nd, 2020.

Forward and Invite as many people as you'd like!

RC Aircraft are welcome to submit as well! Post/Submission must clearly state RC Aircraft and will be graded against other RC Aircraft.

I'm excited to see everyone's flying!
