Member Comments Sought on Proposed Team Selection Policy Changes

    The IAC Board of Directors is requesting comments on the following motions carried at the Fall Board of Directors meeting held October 23-24, 2003 in Oshkosh, WI. As per the Policy and Procedures (P&P) Manual, when any proposed changes are made to P&P Section #504 - Selection of U.S. Aerobatic Teams, there will be a two-month member comment period before the IAC Board of Directors casts a final vote to approve the proposed policy changes. IAC members should direct their comments to the IAC Board of Directors list serve at IAC-Board@eaamail.org or individually to their regional Director. A list of Regional Directors can be found in the members only section of the IAC website at http://www.iac.org under Leadership - Board of Directors. A Board vote will be taken at the Spring Board meeting to be held March 26-27, 2004 in Chicago, IL.

    Motion #22: To remove all references to percentage for Team Selection from the P&P.

    In favor: Poehlmann, Bird, Adams, Andrew, Heuer, Stock, Taylor, Knight, Vidrine
    Opposed: Cruse, Martin
    Abstain: Parker-Lauck
    Motion carries (9/2/1).

    The referenced sections currently require that pilots trying out for the team must achieve a minimum of 70% of the points possible on the total of all flown flights to be eligible for the team. This 70% is determined after TBLP and after all penalties have been applied.

    Motion #25: Change IAC P&P 504 on Advanced Team Eligibility Requirements paragraph (g) to select eight (8) pilots instead of five (5).

    Motion carries.

    The referenced section currently allows the IAC to select five (5) pilots in rank order as qualified for the U.S. Advanced Aerobatic Team.
