IAC JUDGE SEMINAR DESCRIPTIONSNOTE: Prior to attendance at one of the seminars listed below, students should secure copies of the following: 1. Current IAC Official Contest Rules (free download at http://members.iac.org/contests/rulebook.html). Chapters may at their option arrange to have copies for sale at the seminar. Check with the POC listed for the seminar yo plan to attend. 2. Aresti Aerobatic Catalog (fee based download from Aresti System website. The IAC is not authorized to provide this copyrighted document.) INTRODUCTION TO AEROBATIC JUDGING SEMINAR. This course presents the basic concepts of aerobatic judging. In this 2-day class provides:Day One: 1. Review of Requirements for becoming an IAC Judge 2. Overview of the Competition Arena 3. Introduction to the Aresti Aerobatic Catalogue 4. Learning the Aresti Language 5. Constructing Aerobatic Figures 6. Review of Catalogue Families Day Two (Recurrency Session): 7. Contest Flight Program Rules 8. Checking a Freestyle Sequence 9. Detailed Judging Criteria Upon completion of this course you will be qualified to volunteer as an assistant judge at any IAC competition, and will have completed one requirement towards becoming an IAC Regional Judge. For previously certified Judges, attendance at this seminar will fulfill recurrency requirements for attending a Judges Seminar as defined in IAC Rule 2.6.3. ADVANCED JUDGING CRITERIA SEMINAR: This one-day seminar is a more in depth session than what is covered in the 2nd day Recurrency portion of the Introductory school. It is aimed at previously certified judges who wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of judging aerobatic flying. The curriculum is less formal than that of the Introductory seminar, in order to encourage open discussion of the more subtle and less explicit judging criteria. For certified judges, attendance at this seminar will fulfill recurrency requirements for attending a judges’ school as defined in IAC Rule 2.6.3.Prerequisite: Attendees must have previously attended the Introduction to Aerobatic Judging Seminar. Who should attend this seminar: Course Registration Fee: $25 (a local chapter surcharge may apply to cover the chapter’s local expenses such as room rental, refreshments, etc.). Materials Provided in this course: Attention Judges Seeking Recurrency: Annual currency requirements, including passing the annual Revalidation and Currency (R&C) Exam are defined in the IAC Official Contest Rules, section 2.6.3. JUDGING CRITERIA FOR AEROBATIC PILOTS: This 1-day seminar is designed to give competition pilots a chance to learn what judges are looking for and. It is taught by instructors who are familiar with both the judge’s view and the cockpit controls required to score well. Students attending this class are expected to already understand the basics of competition.NOTE: The price of this course is subject to change and must be verified with IAC Headquarters.
